Mass Effect

Since the eastern seaboard has been slammed immobile by all this snow, I took the opportunity to get better acquainted with some games. Thanks to Steam, I can get it all without risking my neck driving to Gamestop.
I've been seeing some fantastic Mass Effect fanart around the web lately, and it made me want to try it out. I'm normally a little skeptical of shooters, even if they're not quite pure shooters, despite the fact that most of my Steam downloads are all... um, shooters. So when Mass Effect came out and my coworkers were gabbling about it, I said "Pshaw, yet another beefy, buzz-cut, barrel chested, chisel jawed space marine." But I forgot that Bioware was involved, and I have a good track record with them.
LONG STORY SHORT AND ABOUT FORTY HOURS LATER OF ALMOST NONSTOP MASS EFFECT, I can honestly say that this is my new favorite series of games ever. EVER. ME1 was fun, plays a lot like Knights of the Old Republic, but ME2 is easily the best game I've played in ... oh lord, years. I've been talking about it to my friends and posting about it on my other journal, but I keep wanting to talk about it and tell everybody how great it is, so... here I am. It's fantastic and I love it. It's the only thing that's made me want to draw fanart of for awhile. I can't remember the last time I played a game that made me stay up until 7 AM because I didn't want to stop playing. It was like the greatest and most fun brainless sci-fi Hollywood summer blockbuster flick I've ever seen, except I'm the one calling the shots and ... making the headshots. (Sniping is unbelievably satisfying in ME2.)
Forget Torchlight, I'm going to be replaying ME2 for a bit.

HOLY CRAP I LOVE THIS GAME
It's basically Diablo 2, but with some better gameplay and very very pretty graphics. It helps stave off the hunger cravings for Diablo 3. Apparently it was made with the same team, even the same music guy, so if I just close my eyes it feels like I'm running around in the Blood Moors again.
I need a multiplayer version like BURNING.
